Again we have a flurry of options in our weekly Top iPhone and iPad Games of the Week series. Irrupt kicks off our list with a 90 AppScore, the game looks like a simple and classic arcade game where the goal of the game is to help astronauts go from one station to another while avoiding asteroids. In second is World of Blocks - it's a puzzler with an 89 AppScore featuring blocks with unique personalities/powers that form your team and your mission together is to unite the missing crystals (oh and it seems to take place in ancient Greece) - I feel like you have to play this one to get it. Coming in third with an 87 AppScore is Tentacles: Enter the Dolphin - the game has an interesting storyline, you play the role of a black tentacled creature trying to escape from inside a mad scientist's body and yes in this game eating eyeballs is a good thing that helps you survive, definitely a little odd. Snail Bob, taking fourth with an 85 AppScore, is a game where you guide a slow snail through multiple puzzles and locations while avoiding all sorts of danger. Tied for fifth with 83 AppScores are Paper Toss Friends, a game that does exactly what its name implies - you toss paper into baskets against friends, and Word Poker Live Free where you play a unique word based version Texas Hold’em against other people. So there you have it, 6 more games for you to play. Of course we'd like to hear what you think so let us know in the comments below.
As always rankings are based on aggregating professional review scores from around the web for games released 2 - 3 weeks prior to allow for reviews to accumulate.
|$0.99: iPhone, iPod touch & iPad (Universal)|
From the app description: "IRRUPT is a fast paced game that requires quick reflexes, great timing, and strategic thinking on the fly. That's where you come in! Guide the never ending stream of brave astronauts as they attempt to reach safety. Tap and hold the screen to make your astronaut stop moving to avoid the falling asteroid blocks-- but be careful, once you let go, or your energy bar runs out, you'll boost forward at tremendous speeds."
Check out a quote from AppAdvice: "I am finding Irrupt to be a delight to pick up and play for a few minutes, and then put it down and come back to it later. It’s a great little game to help pass some time if you’re waiting, or just need a way to unwind after a long day" (October 3, 2012).
||World of Blocks||89|
From the app description: "Long ago, in the great Elivion world there was a struggle between good and evil for the right to be the owner of the crystal, the force of which in the capable hands could make everyone happy, or turn peace into chaos. Once mighty Atlantes split the crystal into many pieces and hid them in the most quiet corners of the World. Atlanta - one of the hiding places where fragments of the mysterious crystal were hidden. The desire of Vargus to be the owner of the crystal led him and his followers to this mysterious city. The fate of Elivion is in Your hands. Show what You and Your team can do."
Check out a quote from Tapscape: "The game design is really cool. As mentioned before, each of the blocks has a unique personality, which adds depth to the gameplay experience. And there’s something about the ancient Greek design motifs throughout that makes the game feel cohesive and thoughtfully produced. If you’re looking for a new puzzler that’s got great graphic appeal, World of Blocks may just become your new favorite time waster" (October 18, 2012).

Check out a quote from Slide To Play: "Tentacles: Enter the Dolphin is one of those rare games that seems impossible without a touchscreen device. The unique gameplay and offbeat sense of humor make this crazy platformer a giant winner" (October 5, 2012).
