The convenience of Instagram combined with the high quality style of the filters makes Instagram a obvious favorite in photo sharing. I hope to see Instagram continue to innovate in this field and highly recommend this app receive a spot in your home screen. Even if you are not convinced, Instagram is free and available in the app store right now, so at least give it a try and see what all the fuss is all about. I think you will find yourself charmed by this great app. Date: November 18, 2010

I admire Instagram for trying to provide a bit more social interaction on top of the usual "handful of filters" free photo apps available, but I think it needs to pick which side of the social-networking fence it's on. If you want to make this thing friends-only, do it, otherwise open it up so users can really share their photos. Date: October 18, 2010

Instagram is designed to work with both the front and rear camera of the iPhone and also provides some editing features — while not robust, definitely allows for a little personality to be added to your photos before sharing. Date: October 21, 2011

There’s a good reason why Instagram has over powered the majority of photo applications. I would have to say one of the major reasons for this would be the customization. Instagram lets you take photos and immediately edit them using numerous customizing tools! The options for editing seem limitless! It’s like having a small version of Photoshop on your iPhone! The images come out crisp, clear and beautiful! Date: April 29, 2012

It's dead easy to use. Open the app, create your free account, and start taking pictures. Tap the camera button in the middle of the tab bar, snap a picture or pick one from the Camera roll and choose from a multitude of beautiful filters specifically designed to make your photos gorgeous. And share. Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare, or even Email. You can do them all from one simple screen. It stands as an example of beautiful design combined with thoughtful interactions. While Instagram may remain extremely trendy and yes, excessive photo filtering is not a good thing, at least in using the app, the reasons why it’s so popular are apparent because the app is just so handy to use. Date: April 27, 2013

Instagram has gained a huge user base of die-hard fans, and it's definitely improved since my last evaluation, especially in the Web department. But my Editors' Choice iPhone photo-editing-and-sharing app, Flickr still offers more options, better resolution, tagging, and lots more web flexibility. The new Flickr iPhone app now even boasts Instagram-like photo-blinging effects, and you can also get an excellent selection of these from other iPhone apps like EyeEm, Repix or Camera+.
