1. COMPETE FOR THE SUPREMACY OF MEDIEVAL JAPAN
Lead your clan to battle through more than 10 hours of story-driven campaign set in the world of Total War™: SHOGUN 2; winner of “Best Strategy Game of 2011” awards from Gamespot, IGN, Gamespy and GameTrailers.

2. BUILD YOUR ECONOMY
Deploy and manage your bases to generate resources and recruit units including samurai, archers, ninjas and cavalry. Each victory awards XP to spend on building and troop upgrades that could make a decisive difference to your future battles.

3. A UNIQUE TAKE ON REAL-TIME BATTLES
Total War Battles™ introduces a new real-time battle system that feels both familiar and fresh. The hex battle maps allow for natural unit movements and deep strategy. However, as followers of the “Bushido” code of conduct, your units can never turn back – this twist to classic RTS gameplay adds tension and intensity to the action, making each victory even more rewarding.

4. DESIGNED FOR TOUCHSCREENS
Introducing an interface designed specifically for touchscreens – drag and drop buildings and troops, swipe across the battle map with a flick, and pinch to zoom in and out.

5. 1Vs1 LOCAL MULTIPLAYER
Play against a friend in real-time on a single device in three different multiplayer modes.

6. SKIRMISH MODE
Play through six standalone battles in Normal, Hard or Shogun difficulty. Compete against other players on the leaderboards and unlock new Skirmish achievements.

7. STRATEGY FOR ALL
Total War™ fans will naturally enjoy the intense, deep and rewarding action-strategy gameplay, while more casual strategy fans will appreciate the Zen simplicity of the opening tutorial battles, scalable difficulty level and hint system that will soon make them a tactical master.

8. UNIVERSAL APP
This iOS app is designed to scale its appearance for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, which means Total War Battles™ takes complete advantage of the iOS device that it's installed on.

Although it’s not much like the superb PC games and has several noticeable flaws, Total War Battles is a surprisingly beautiful and engaging mix of war gaming and puzzles. Date: April 19, 2012

In summary, this is a truly good game, if you forget about the rest of the series. This (like Monty Python say) is something completely different. Date: April 21, 2012

I’ll say it again; SEGA does feudal Japan really, really well. Total War Battles: Shogun should most definitely make strategy fans happy. Date: April 25, 2012

Total War Battles was not as “Totally Hard” to learn as many real-time strategy games are. The forced tutorial is very well done, but not so boring that you want to jab nails into your eye sockets. The game played great, no crashes experienced while playing on and iPad 3rd generation. There is multi-player gameplay locally (1 on 1). Date: May 05, 2012

All levels are introduced by excellent voice acting. The animations are detailed for their miniature size and the controls intuitive, aided by a helpful tutorial to ease you in. The back story is well written, with enough twists and advances at a reasonable rate. It’s refreshing to be pleasantly surprised when a genre that is difficult to migrate to the tablet world is actually pulled off. This is a very enjoyable game and although a little pricier than others, is worth a look. Date: May 30, 2012

Overall, this is an eye catching strategy game that adds some great ideas to the lane based tower defence genre on iPhone. The lack of a skirmish mode and online play is a big loss, and I still would have preferred a more traditional Total War game, but with many hours of fun battling and those oh-so-lovely animations, this is still a rare treat for iPhone fans. Total War Battles: Shogun is an excellent strategy game for iOS devices. There is a load of missions in the campaign, and depending on your skill you can get anywhere between 12-20 hours out of it. The multiplayer is more of a distraction for the bus ride than a reason in itself to get the game. If you are looking for a strategy game that is easy to get into, and still have a lot of depth Total War Battles: Shogun comes highly recommended. Date: April 19, 2012

While Total War Battles may not appeal directly to fans of the series as it has lost a lot of depth in its transition, but the focus on considered strategy has remained and should be a boon to fans of castle defense titles and strategy games in general. Definitely worth poking a sword at. Date: April 19, 2012

Scaled down out of necessity, Total War Battles: Shogun isn't quite the grand spectacle that the name might suggest. That's easily forgiven, though, since the compelling tactical battles, rich setting and high production values all shine on their own accord. It's not the cheapest iOS app, but it's well worth the dough for anyone looking for high quality RTS gaming on the go. Date: April 23, 2012

As for the multiplayer, I haven't had the chance to get someone to sit down to poke at it with me. Unsurprisingly, Total War Battles: Shogun only supports 1vs1 same-device multiplayer, something that is generally best played on the iPad as opposed to its more diminutive cousins. Still, if you're willing to overlook the aforementioned issues, Total War Battles: Shogun is a refreshing change from the App Store's barrage of angry avians, physics-based puzzler and match-3 games. Total War Battles just may be the best strategy game in the App Store as it allows anyone to understand and enjoy the extremely deluxe campaign. The game does have slow pacing though, which is on par with other strategy games, but would benefit from a fast forward option as seen in tower defense. Total War Battles is a should buy that makes iOS better, and provides a go to strategy game for the platform. Date: April 20, 2012

Obviously, being a strategy war-game means that it won't be to everyone's taste, but anyone who is not put off by the idea should really be rushing to get hold of it as it is a quite superb distillation of the principles of, let's not make any bones about this, a generally unapproachable genre. Newcomers can feel at ease, lowering themselves gently into the murky waters of Real-Time Strategy War-gaming. With a campaign that is broken up into comparatively bite-sized chunks, fears of time commitments can be thrown out of the window. Date: April 25, 2012

Total War Battles: Shogun is bound to rub some hardcore Total War fans up the wrong way because, frankly, it shares relatively little in common with the franchise and cannot hope to provide comparable depth and complexity. That said, when one judges TWB: Shogun on its own merits, we’re left with an outstanding game which certainly deserves a place on your iPad. Date: June 08, 2012

The bottom line. Even with a more streamlined format, Total War Battles: Shogun doesn’t skimp on depth or challenge. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s not steep enough to hamper the masterful strategizing. Date: April 27, 2012

It’s not a revolution for the RTS genre for iOS, but that doesn’t stop Total War Battles from being a fine game. $6.99 is a hefty price, but don’t let that stop you from picking this up if you’re a buff of the genre or just curious otherwise. Date: May 02, 2012

The tactical gameplay is engaging, the art and animations are beautiful and the campaign is long enough to keep you at it for a while, with good replay-ability. I think overall we have a very clean and clever game here, that has made me excited to see where they will take it next — the app store page is already promising new features coming soon.
