The game is all about reflexes and coordination, so you better think fast and make sure that Sugar Kid gets the least amount of harm done to him. I love the game because it’s a real challenge, features delightfully fresh visuals, enchanting music, and how can you resist such unconventional characters? I’ll definitely be cheering for Sugar Kid. Sugar Kid is, ultimately, a casual experience, albeit couched in a smoothly scaling and (at times) terrifying world that begs you to play ‘just one more level’. It’s hard to deny its addictive charm and is definitely worth picking up if you can stomach it. Date: October 04, 2012

Despite comprising of an impressive sounding 90-plus levels that are spaced out over 3 different lands, Sugar Kid actually changes very little from the first level to the last. Because of this, at times gameplay can border on the monotonous, but the graphics, story and pick-up-and-play controls all combine to create a title which, like sugar itself, can prove to be surprisingly addictive. Sugar Kid’s core problem is that it refuses to abandon the visual and mechanical samplings that stretch it thin to pursue with conviction a clear thesis for what it wants to be. By no means is it outright bad. Rather, it realizes the one thing it continually asks you to prevent, its protagonist’s greatest fear: being watered down. Date: October 09, 2012

A reasonably inventive take on the one-finger puzzler that's let down by monotonous, uninspired level design. Date: October 12, 2012
