Mad Skills BMX brings back the simple competitive joy of games like Motocross Maniacs and in our books that's almost the highest praise we can give it - definitely make it your next purchase if you love your racers and have a competitive streak; I guarantee you won't be up for air for a week. Weighing all the things I noted, do yourself a favor; if you don't have MotoX yet, just buy them both! They play differently enough that you will be entertained by either for quite some time. I have had Mad Skill Motocross on both my devices since its release as it is just mad fun, and I know without question that BMX will remain as well. Date: August 18, 2012

Despite being a paid app, this one offers a rather expensive in-app store and that is the only thing I have against Mad Skills. Yet, with eye-catching graphics, suitable sound effects and wonderful gameplay, I like what I got for a buck. Date: February 08, 2013

If you have the patience to master even the very basics of the game, then we certainly recommend taking Mad Skills BMX for a ride. Learning curve aside, it's one of the most competent competitive racers available on the App Store, and the multiplayer and ghost-racing components will give you considerably more value for money than the majority of the competition will. The battle with oneself is sufficient enough, regardless, and the 40 tracks are guaranteed to take plenty of time to master. Much like the Trials series and Mad Skills Motocross, there will be swearing under your breath but also that urge to come back for more. Date: August 16, 2012

Mad Skills BMX is an enjoyable game and while the addition of ghost riders to compete against would make the game even more addictive it’s still pretty addictive without it. Date: August 19, 2012

So, this is tough for me. I really, really like Mad Skills BMX, and keeping in mind its challenge and somewhat steep learning curve, I still totally recommend giving it a try. It just feels like I’m missing out on half of the game being on the outside of the Facebook leaderboards. A recent update added 10 new tracks and Game Center achievement support, but sadly no leaderboards. Should those come sometime in the future it’ll really breathe life into Mad Skills BMX for me, but even as it is now it’s been one of my favorite recent single-player experiences and for that is still worth considering. In the end, Mad Skills BMX is a game that really questions just how ‘extreme’ you are. It isn’t forgiving, and it forces you to get better, or simply accept your inferiority as a consumer of dirt. The challenge curve will be the direct determinant of whether or not you like the game: either you’ll fight through and emerge victorious, or fail often and feel insulted. Because of its similarity to the original Mad Skills Motocross game, I can’t outright recommend it over its big brother with more levels, but it’ll definitely fuel your high-speed, high-frustration tolerance. Unrelentingly difficult, Mad Skills BMX doesn't offer up enough fun-shaped rewards to make the slog through its levels worthwhile. Date: August 20, 2012

Mad Skills BMX isn't a bad game, but the steep difficulty curve and level of mastery required to win might be too much for some players. But those who can master the game's nuances should find an experience suitable for some solid online leaderboard competition. Date: August 20, 2012

Mad Skills BMX is currently a game that lets the user do almost nothing in the way of stunts; features a bevy of very generic looking levels; features a tutorial that tells you to do almost nothing but swipe down at various points, and will suddenly demand you mix together the controls in creative ways – that the developers never once bothered to explain – the second the tutorial ends. Mad Skills BMX – if the tutorial was improved – might become a passable experience, but that still won’t change the fact that there are already a ton more exciting iOS games than this available in the genre. I can – at the very least – promise you that Mad Skills BMX has absolutely no sneaky pay-to-win schemes built into it, which I sadly can’t say for quite a few of the game’s superiors.
