Deep War is an excellently presented and well executed title that plays smoothly and is incredibly well balanced. With a few minor tweaks to the AI I don’t doubt that it could also be challenging to play. Date: October 25, 2012

The way the game is broken up is a bit more iffy, though; you're given eight levels to play through, and they never tell you which one you're on, so remember to keep count. Moreover, the levels feel a bit lengthy, despite the low number of them. Having more levels of shorter length might have been a more desirable option, especially after cracking knuckles and wrists following our playthrough of some levels in the way an iPod dictates. Deep War is a bit quirky as shoot ‘em ups go, for better or worse, but it certainly isn't a bad investment. Date: October 29, 2012

Points and meteorite acquisition are used to fund the purchase of torpedoes and sub upgrades, but it rarely feels significantly noticeable. It’s just a nice, small bonus, giving players the sense of (false) accomplishment. That’s the problem with Deep War. Once one level has been completed, there’s no real evolution. There are no boss fights or real change in the direction of the gameplay, meaning it’s not the most thrilling of games. It’s fun to play for a short time but become distracted by a superior title and it’s likely that Deep War will be forgotten about. Date: November 06, 2012
