The Bottom Line: Who would have thunk that those Bad Piggies would be as much addictive fun as those suicidal Angry Birds? Rovio did, and now I’m a Bad Piggies Fan! Date: October 02, 2012

Bad Piggies is awesome, and needs to be a part of your iOS game collection just as much as the rest of the Angry Birds series. Rovio nails the same accessibility of the Angry Birds games while taking the franchise in a direction that feels both totally fresh and entirely appropriate. It sucks that Rovio still isn't releasing universal versions of their games, and it's disappointing that the iPhone variety doesn't take advantage of the iPhone 5's wider display, but neither of these things make Bad Piggies any less fun. Definitely pick this one up. Date: September 27, 2012

Bad Piggies doesn't just feel like the next logical step forward for a developer like Rovio, but the next step forward for the physics-puzzler genre itself as players engineer their own solutions and use them to succeed, no matter how whacky they may seem. Date: September 28, 2012

Bad Piggies is a fun game that offers lots to do, though it definitely offers a different kind of experience next to Angry Birds. It’s more difficult, for one thing, and slower, and requires a bit more thought and strategy. But given Rovio’s usual exercise of rehashing the Birds themselves, a species shift for the company’s most lucrative IP isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Date: September 27, 2012

Bad Piggies is pretty darned flawless, when I think about it. One thing I admire about Rovio is that they aren’t afraid to stuff their games full of things to do. With over 60 levels, hidden items to collect and the promise of more free levels on the way, Bad Piggies is a thoroughly enjoyable game that will have players scratching their heads and having a blast for a good while. Unlike many other corporate app publishers that are creating 10 versions of the same freemium game to try to get users to pump money into their pockets, kudos to Rovio as they could have gone a totally different direction and put the screws to their community, due to their great quality apps. If you have not figured it out yet, Bad Piggies is a must download and I’m guessing it will eventually be another iOS app classic. Date: October 04, 2012

Bad Piggies is a fantastic next step for Rovio, who have managed to make yet another unique game that will have many, many imitators appearing on the App Store. As much as it is a cliche to say it, this really is an ‘easy to pick up, hard to master’ game that will keep you going for a while. Date: October 10, 2012

Bad Piggies is the best title Rovio has released yet, eclipsing Angry Birds Space. The open-ended puzzles work your brain while also allowing you to be creative. Thanks to Rovio’s infectiously amusing, cheerful style you’ll be smiling ear-to-ear watching your creations come to life regardless of whether you succeed or fail. Date: October 01, 2012

Despite this game’s obvious deviations from Rovio’s previous hit, this game feels so much like Angry Birds in all the right ways. It captures fun and addiction that made players of Angry Birds unable to put it down. I find myself daring my battery and looking for somewhere to charge just so I can squeeze out a few more tries at a difficult level. Rovio has certainly proven that they have the ability to continue making high quality, and addicting games. If you are still reading this review instead of playing Bad Piggies, then you are crazy and need to hit the app store immediately. Date: September 28, 2012

Bad Piggies is just about everything you could want in a new game from Rovio. It maintains that same level of “I can almost figure this out!” challenge that Angry Birds offered, plenty of personality, and basics so easy that a kid could master them. And while the gameplay might be a pretty drastic departure from their Angry Birds work, it’s also a welcome one. In fact, Bad Piggies might just be their best game to date. Date: September 27, 2012

Frankly, I was skeptical about Rovio’s ability to continue cashing in on the Angry Birds craze without driving the franchise to banality, but Bad Piggies is a welcome, if unexpected, breath of fresh air. The day will come, I’m sure, when Rovio will attempt to hit it big with a new intellectual property, but it seems as though this franchise is safe for now. Aside from the singular issue of Bad Piggies not launching with the ability to take advantage of my iPhone 5′s larger screen, there are very few negative things to say about the app. The gameplay is easy to learn, and manages to remain challenge without getting stale or repetitive. Bad Piggies is a great game that will appeal to many. It doesn’t quite hit that sweet spot of portability, quick play, and low skill that Angry Birds does, but neither does it aspire to the level of lateral thinking and deep attention that made Amazing Alex harder to get into. Rovio had a tricky needle to thread here between capitalizing on the fame of Angry Birds and offering something new, and I think they nailed it. Date: September 29, 2012

With tons of unlockables and 90 levels to play over and over again, it’s no surprise Bad Piggies broke a number of iTunes and App Store records upon its release last week. By flipping the Angry Birds narrative on its head and changing up the gameplay style, Bad Piggies is a fresh, inventive addition to any iOS gamer’s collection. Date: October 03, 2012

The only negative about the game is that a lot of the devices on the contraptions perform similar functions, and despite the brilliant later levels, it all does rather run out of steam after a few hours, with only the great sandbox levels likely to keep you coming back long term. Still, this is a brilliant release from Rovio, better than many of the Angry Birds games and shows that success has not dampened the creative spark in the team just yet. Date: October 08, 2012

Bad Piggies excels at offering wannabe inventors the opportunity to put their thinking caps on and show off their skills. It won't please everyone, and the game exists in the shadow of Angry Birds, but if you enjoy piecing things together to see how they work, you'll definitely fall in love with these oinkers. One of Big [sic] Piggies biggest let downs is not taking advantage of iOS features like iPhone 5 support, full retina support, iCloud sync and universal compatibility. Other than these issues this is a solid game with an interesting concept. The choice to get rid of the birds and create a whole new game shows some originality. I really enjoyed playing this game and highly recommend it. Date: September 27, 2012

The word ‘design’ is at the heart of why I love Bad Piggies, I honestly felt in many levels that I was not simply discovering the developers’ solution. Rather, I felt that I had designed my own. The developers placed intelligent limits on the player’s independence, but give the player enough room to feel ownership of their accomplishment. I encourage everyone to try Bad Piggies; it is a game for all audiences, and one that is as challenging or easy as the player would like it to be. Date: September 29, 2012

Bad Piggies offers a unique look into the Angry Bird’s universe while offering a completely new spin on game play. This is a dollar well spent and should be owned by everyone with an iOS or Android compatible device. Bad Piggies is certainly not as addictive as Angry Birds but is worth your time and money. It’s fun to shoot the pigs off of cliffs, it’s fun to watch the spectacular crashes, and it’s fun to careen to the finish line. It’s not fun to have to go through boring trial-and-error to get there, and it’s not fun to be able to create crazy vehicles, just to be “forced” into using the ones the game wants you to. Although Bad Piggies does succeed in being different from Angry Birds, it fails to be a great game. It has its moments, but it also has its flaws, and I still can’t shake the feeling that Rovio is just trying to expand Angry Birds instead of taking the leap with a new IP (if you don’t believe me, pause the game. Most of the pause screen is ads for Angry Birds apps). If you are looking for a diverting change from the Birds, you could play this, since it is unquestionably a different game. But there are better diversions out there, past the red feathers of the furious avians, and the green skin of the Bad Piggies. Date: November 13, 2012
